Kernprinzip: Einmal hören (Core Principle: One-Pass Listening)

At B1/B2 level, some audio may play only once. You must extract key information on the first listen. This is a trainable skill.

Strategie 1: Alles vorher lesen (Strategy 1: Pre-Read Everything)

Before the audio plays:

Read ALL questions and answer options
Identify what you need to listen for (names? numbers? opinions? actions?)
Predict what the audio might be about based on the options

This is the most important strategy. If you know what to listen for, you’ll hear it.

Since we can’t embed audio here, these drills describe what to practice and where to find audio. Use the structure below with real audio from the sources listed.

Übungsblock 1: Zahlen- und Detaildiktat (Drill Set 1: Number & Details Dictation) (pre-A1 / A1)

So üben Sie (How to practice):

Go to YouTube and search: “Deutsch hören Zahlen” or “German numbers listening”
Play the audio and write down every number, time, date, or price you hear
Check against transcript or subtitles

Fokusbereiche (Focus areas):

Numbers 1–100
Compound numbers (einundzwanzig, siebenundsiebzig)
Times (Uhrzeit): 8:30 = halb neun or acht Uhr dreissig
Dates: am fünfzehnten März = 15. März
Prices: dreiundzwanzig Franken fünfzig = CHF 23.50
Phone numbers: spoken digit by digit

Übungsformat (Practice format):

Listen to a 30–60 second dialogue
Answer these questions from memory:
- Who is speaking? (friends, colleagues, customer/seller, etc.)
- Where are they? (shop, office, doctor, train station, etc.)
- What is the main topic?
- What is the outcome/decision?
Listen again and check

Häufige Dialogsituationen zum Üben (Common dialogue situations to practice):

At the doctor: making an appointment, describing symptoms
At the shop: asking about price, size, availability
At work: calling in sick, scheduling a meeting
At the train station: buying a ticket, asking about connections
At the Gemeinde: asking about documents, making an appointment
On the phone: leaving a message, asking for information

Übungsblock 3: Durchsagen verstehen (Drill Set 3: Announcement Comprehension) (A2 / B1)

SBB app: listen to real announcements at train stations

Übungsformat (Practice format):

Listen to an interview with 2–3 speakers
For each speaker, write:
- Name (if given)
- Main point / opinion
- One supporting detail
After listening, assign statements to the correct speaker
